Padma entered the house quietly and with a sigh. Another annoying client and a long drawn out case. It was good money, but such a pain in the ass. She wanted nothing more than for it to be over, and now, but she knew she had at least another month of it ( ... )

Marcus was completely relaxed as he stared up at the stars, the cool night air soothing him. He was more at peace than he'd ever been in his life and he'd found satisfaction in his life here with Padma. A twisted, wistful smile crossed his features as he leaned the chair back on two legs, tilting his head up toward the dark sky. Not to say that Marcus never thought, but Padma was sure she'd never seen him this pensive. The way he stared at the stars made her pause, her breath catching in her throat. He looked so... It was indescribable. She paused for a moment, just watching him before moving forward to greet him.

The words were classically Marcus though, and Padma laughed, looking over to the blankets before shaking her head. "You've been trying to fuck me up here since we started, Marcus. What makes you think you'll succeed this time?"

Padma settled herself into his lap and gratefully laid her head on his shoulder a moment, letting the fatigue she felt in her very bones come through for a moment. Then he was kissing her, and Padma was anything but tired. Her hand rose to cup his cheek as she responded, keeping the kiss soft, but always with that flare of want.

"If you say so, Marcus."

It would have been so easy to just ask her to marry him then, the setting was perfect and they'd never stood on tradition. But something inside of him told Marcus that she would want this to be special and he'd need to think of a way to make this moment uniquely hers ( ... )
