Megan sighed. The flat was always so quiet when Ben was with Terry. And these days Bob mostly slept or was content to just sit quietly watching television. A far cry from the hyper dog of a few months ago. That's what pregnancy did to a girl, canine or human, Megan supposed.

She was contemplating dinner, but it always felt so strange to cook for herself. She liked to have people to cook for, even if most of the time it was for Ben, who was more likely to make mountains of his potates than eat them. She'd probably end up going down to the Five Alarm and get take-away, which was becomming more and more a regular occurance when she was on her own.

She headed for her room to grab a light jacket, and was settling Bob in when someone knocked at the door. She dropped the jacket back on the bed and went to answer it.

"Zach," she said in genuine pleasure and surprise. "I didn't know you were back in town. Come in." She stepped back so he could enter. "So, where have you been keeping yourself?"

Zach grinned at her, feeling some of his nervousness slip away in the face of her smile. "Hey," he said, running a hand through his hair as he stepped through the doorway. "Yeah, I've been back a month maybe? Been working for Roger Davies, staying busy. Aside from that I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things here. I was gone for a long time."

He shifted a bit and looked down at his feet before looking back up at her. "You're looking well. How are you?"

"I wish I'd known you were back, I'd have come down and helped you unpack. Again," she teased. "Everything okay? You were gone a long time."

She smiled at him and shrugged. "Thanks. I've been fine. I'm working at the Apothecary for Fred and George Weasley, and Ben keeps me busy."

She studied him and wondered if there was anything wrong. It was always hard to tell with Zach, but something seemed a little off. "So, what brings you by?"

"Everything is fine now, thanks. My sister, well, she wasn't doing too well. She had a bad pregnancy and the baby was too early. I went home to help." They'd nearly lost them both. "They're fine now though, both of them. They're good enough that they were more than happy to get rid of me again," he said, grinning. "So I'm back. Didn't have much to unpack, but thanks. The flat does look a bit better though. I've done some work on it."

He smiled. "I'm sure he does. He's got a lot of energy. Handling a little one round the clock is huge."

Zach shuffled his feet again, bowing his head slightly. "I, er, wondered if you'd be up to grabbing a bite to eat with me? I'm buying. I can promise good food and drink and mediocre company."
