The weekend had been wonderful. Adair had been thrilled to see him, thrilled enough that he'd not been too much of a brat. Zach had taken him out flying and listened to him babble on about the new baby. His sister looked good, and was back to her old self, griping at him about not visiting in weeks.
The baby was gorgeous. She was fattening up, pink and sweet, and it was cool to hold her and to feed her. It wasn't as cool to be spit up on, but the good with the bad and all that.
As nice as it was to see his family, he was glad to be back. He still missed Mandy terribly, but he'd missed Wayne too. That was at least an issue he could do something about. He tossed his bag down and ran a hand through his hair as he ran up the stairs, only to feel a hollow kind of disappointment a few minutes later to find that Wayne wasn't home.
Well, shit.
Zach sighed and almost went back to his flat. But he thought better of it, knowing he needed to go grab something to eat anyway. But he really did not want to spend the evening alone.
Climbing the stairs, he was slightly out of breath by the time he reached the fifth floor. Getting old. Shaking his head at himself, he moved across the hall to 5B and lightly knocked on the door. It had been a long time since he'd seen Megan. Hopefully she wouldn't mind him barging in and begging for her company for the evening. However, he reasoned, he did owe her dinner for helping him move in all those months ago, and really, there was no time like the present.
