Kingsley had been politely told asked to take a watch at the Town Hall Saturday evening during a gathering of Slytherin alumni. He was officially there to keep the peace in the event of gate crashers or rabble rousers from within ( ... )

Horace belatedly wondered if he should have invited representatives from the other houses to attend - he didn't think that anything that went on tonight would be remotely confidential, and they might as well know that (hopefully) the Old Slytherins were back.

Rita arrived late, of course. Only by ten minutes or so, but still late enough that people would be there to notice her arrive. No doubt there would be people even later than her, and that suited her fine. She liked an entrance, but she didn't want to be seen to be following in the footsteps of several others who had had the same idea as her.

She was dressed immaculately, of course (she'd gone back to buy that purple coat she'd spotted on the day she'd run into Kingsley, after all), and though the garment was possibly a little warm for the weather, she wasn't uncomfortable.

After she arrived, she followed the sign into the meeting, took a look around at the rooms inhabitants. Slughorn, Gilderoy... fuck. Travers and his sister? Merlin be damned.

Well, fuck them. This was a public place. She'd just ignore them.

Kingsley saw the blond Slytherin and stepped back into the shadows, letting her get the door for herself. Trust Rita to forego shiny green for purple during a meeting of snakes. She wouldn't want to get lost in a crowd of house colors, now would she.

When she had just past his position, she stopped to look around. He took two steps forward and softly said, "Nice entrance. Nice coat." Then he turned back to open the door for an older gentleman and the sweet young thing that had hold of his arm.

Horace noticed Rita enter the hall, and smiled towards her. She was Slytherin, of course, but better yet a representative of the press. If anything important came of the meeting the publicity would be useful.

Oh, good fucking lord. Taking another drink from the flask--he should've brought more, should've realized these arseholes'd be too senseless to set out any alcohol--and wondering where the fuck Siri'd gotten herself off to, Willis spotted the bitch. His immediate instinct was to sneer, and he only glared at the sight at first. Where the fuck'd she come from? And when'd she managed to slip in? Bitch had no right being here.

No. He had started toward her but now slowed, considering for a moment that it might not be the best place--Fuck it. Fuck it, fuck her. It might've been funny, but it just wasn't, not after what she'd done and the way she thought she could get away with it. He'd do something about it now

He was quiet enough about walking toward her--angry, but quiet; he'd learned to operate that way--but when he spoke, it was in a voice overloud and with no effort to hide a growl. "Fancy seeing you here, you bitch of a woman."

At seven Horace made his way to the Speaker's chair, tapped a glass a few times to get people's attention, then said "Ladies and Gentlemen, if you'd like to take seats I think it's time we moved on to the formal part of this meeting ( ... )

Horace had expected that it would take about ten minutes to elect the new committee. In the end it took nearly two hours to get enough nominations, with Kingsley Shacklebolt called in as a neutral observer to count the votes when there seemed to be an impasse ( ... )
