The Dear Old House

May 19, 2007 16:30

Date: May 19th, 2005
Character(s): Horace Slughorn, all Slytherins, anyone who wants to gate-crash or eavesdrop
Location: Stoatshead Hill Town Hall
Status: Public
Summary: The first post-war meeting of the Old Slytherins Association
Completion: Complete

"Better cut along home," said Horace, looking over the generously stocked refreshments table, "I'm afraid that some of our more conservative members have an odd dislike of house elves."

"If Professor Slughorn is sure," said Retcon.

"Quite sure," Horace said firmly. "I'm not expecting a huge turn-out tonight, if I'm wrong I'll floo you for more."

After Retcon had gone, Horace went back to the lobby to make sure that the sign directing Slytherins to the council chamber hadn't been moved or damaged, and spread out a few copies of the agenda for the meeting and his summary of the Association's history and goals.. Most people would have read them already, he hoped, but there were always a few slackers. The Chairman's gavel and Slytherin banners were already in place at the speaker's table. That done, he went to help himself to a little punch and a sausage roll, and settled down to wait for the first attendees to arrive. With luck some of them might actually appear on time, and they'd be quorate by seven or so.
