I rejoice that there are owls.... They represent the stark twilight and unsatisfied thoughts which all have. )

Wilhelmina was preparing a draft letter to... well, someone about her concerns for magical creatures and their relations with wizards. Honestly. Mandy was working hard on her proposal, Mona had finally felt up to having her leg seen to, and Willa was still sitting on her haunches contemplating her ideas in a very Ravenclaw fashion. She needed to stop thinking for a moment and take some action.
She laid her pipe down in its holder and sipped her tea. A knock came on the door.
Who would that be? They weren't expecting anyone. She rose, waving her smoke ineffectually toward the open kitchen window, and made her way to the door.
She had to look up considerably when she opened it. The man looked familiar. Was he a neighbour?
"Hello," she smiled. "What can I do for you?"

"Good morning. I'm your neighbor, up at the far end past the Tonks house. I couldn't help noticing you have a large number of owls. I was hoping that you might be willing to trade?" Then he shook his head. "I'm sorry. I should introduce myself first, shouldn't I? Kingsley Shacklebolt. How do you do, Mrs...?"

Ah, so he was a neighbour. She must have seen him walking by from time to time, which was why he looked familiar.
She listened, then held extended her hand. "Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank. Willa is fine. Nice to meet you, Kingsley."
"Come in. My owls are usually happy to go to new homes. Either trade or sale is fine. They're all trained mail owls. I collected them during the war."

He entered the house and listened as she explained that the owls were all trained to handle mail. "That's what I need. An owl who can handle mail. Mostly around town here. Nothing fancy, but one that can carry something a bit heavier than a letter. How does a person collect mail owls?" Kingsley had never heard of anyone collecting owls before. Breeding them. Selling them. Training them. But never collecting them.
