The shop had been quiet enough today that Eleanor had been sent home at five. There wasn't a need to keep her after Hermione had finished up for the day with the press and other duties. So, when the chime sounded shortly before closing, she was straightening the shelves.

When she heard an unfamiliar voice say her name, she instantly had her wand in her hand. She walked around the side of the shelf, keeping her wand in hand but hidden well enough to not appear rude to a potential patron. The man standing in the shop was big: tall and wide and unfamiliar.

"I'm Hermione Granger. Can I help you, Sir?"

"I reckon I'm one of his new friends," Ron said, rubbing the back of his neck. "He knew Harry back then because of the Triwizard Tournament. I was Harry's 'hostage' in the second task." He didn't go into detail, assuming that Cedric had told Jeff all about it. "Harry's my best mate since we're both eleven. Hermione's been our best mate almost as long. Me and Hermione didn't really know Cedric back then. So yeah, we're both new friends of his." Hermione was rather more than a friend to Cedric now, but that was Ced's story to tell.

"A lot of good people died in the war," Ron said, his face clouding. "My dad was one of them." He didn't know exactly who Jeff referred to, but he didn't need to know. Too many people had died.

Cedric's cat, Zen, made herself known with a loud meow. "Dunno about Cedric and cats. Gwen...she was Cedric's fiancee, right?" Ron thought he'd heard about Gwen a few months ago.
