As he stood in front of his mirror in trousers and tucked-in shirt, Roger did up his tie. Then undid it, then tied it again.

"Ah, bugger it." He loosened the tie and yanked it over his head, tossing it behind him onto the bed. He didn't need to wear a tie. This wasn't a formal thing. Hell, it was just going to be the two of them. But he did want to look nice. It was just a matter of respect, the way Roger saw it. A way of showing her that he cared enough about this date to be concscientious about his appearance and take care planning everything. Plus, it was Valentine's Day, and dressing up a bit was sort of requisite.

But he didn't need a tie; that was a bit much. In the end, he decided to change into his darkest blue denims and a nice dark blue button-up-- fitted and untucked. He put on his decent black boots-- the ones he'd worn at Christmas and hadn't touched since-- and topped it with a blazer on account of the weather. He took a look out of the window, and saw that it wasn't raining-- for now. He hoped it wouldn't start, at least not until they got there. But if it did on the way, he knew the proper charms.

He hoped Hermione would like this idea. It had really been a long time since he'd been into the whole planning-out-dates thing. He'd thought about some fancy restaurant, or a show, or some such thing. While he was sure it would have been nice, he didn't think it was really Hermione's style. She seemed pretty low key, and not really into all the frills that most women enjoyed. It was more important ot her what they talked about, or whether she could learn something new. He liked showing her new things.

Roger just liked being with her, so he didn't much care what they did, either. But it was a special day, even if it was only their second date, and so he wanted to please her. He'd spent much of the afternoon getting it ready. He let out a breath and went to the table in the sitting room for his wand and shrugged into his blazer. Right before he stepped outside, he ran back into the bedroom, and pulled her gift out of the top dresser drawer. He'd not have done this ordinarily, but this particular thing had been on his mind for almost two weeks, before they'd started dating. He shrunk it for now, putting it in his pocket, and rushed out to the porch again. It was nearly seven. Before he could think too hard, he shut his eyes and Apparated to her front door, the way he'd done on Saturday, and knocked.

He waited for her to answer, resisting the urge to peek through the little window by her door.
