After her visit to Hermione's bookshop, Rita found herself walking home, thinking once again almost simultaneously of her many projects. She had Gilderoy's mystery father to find, and wealth of reading material on media ownership laws in Britain. She didn't know what to look at first.

She passed a man on a corner who was nailing up notices, barely giving him a second glance at first. But the stack of papers caught her eye. There were a lot of them. More than any usual bill poster. She paused to lift one off the pile. The man gave her a cursory glance, then moved on.

Rita read the page.

A new Minister. Merlin. This was big. A meeting on Friday? That meant she had to get a new issue of the paper out by Saturday. Sunday at the latest. Merlin, she had work to do. She stuffed the notice into her bag and apparated home.

Articles, articles. Things to include. She collected her papers. Since the last issue, a few budding journalists in other parts of Britain had taken to sending her articles (sometimes written well, sometimes not) about the goings-on in their parts of Britain. She'd kept them, owled her thanks. It was good, this network, whether or not the articles themselves were publishable. When she got the paper up and running, she would need contacts like these.

She thought about what needed to be said about Stoatshead Hill. The new establishments. She jotted down notes about Xanadu to be fleshed out later, thought about what Irma had told her at dinner. The library. The museum. She needed to speak to people about those.

She pulled a roll of letter-parchment over.

Gilderoy, darling,

Have you heard the news? A new Minister of Magic has been appointed. There's to be a meeting in the town hall this Friday. I'll need to get the paper out on Saturday or Sunday. Have you done any work on that column? I'm sorry for the short notice, but if you'd like to send me one by Thursday, I'll take a look at it and include it in the new edition.

Regards,

Rita

Dear Colin,

Have you heard the news? A new Minister of Magic has been appointed. There's to be a meeting in the town hall this Friday. I'll need to get the paper out on Saturday or Sunday, since this is obviously big. I presume you will be at the meeting with your camera at the ready? I'd love a photo or two to include with the front page article.

Regards,

Rita

Dear Mr Zabini,

It has come to my attention that you have submitted plans for a new library to be built in Stoatshead Hill. Such an endeavour is applaudable, and must be a large task. I'm writing to inquire whether you would find a quick interview agreeable - for an article to be included in the upcoming issue of The Prophet. Such a large undertaking is an important piece of news for the public, and an article may help you find individuals who are interested in contributing.

If you are interested, please let me know what times would be suitable for you. I am hoping to have a new issue of the newspaper published this coming Saturday or Sunday.

Regards,

Rita Skeeter

Dear Mr Diggory,

Dear Irma,

Have you heard the news? Britain has a hew Minister. She'll be addressing us at the town hall on Friday evening. There are notices everywhere.

Of course, that means I have a new Prophet to publish. Are you still interested in putting that ad in? I'm happy to include it for you, if you like. I don't have many others, but I'll bogus a few up for you so yours isn't the only one there.

Let me know how you'd like it worded, if you're still interested.

Regards,

Rita

Gilda looked severley miffed when she saw all the notes she was going to have to deliver.

"I'm sorry, darling," Rita murmured, feeding her a few sardines to mollify her. "Theo didn't tell you you'd be working for a reporter, did he?"

She blinked at Rita in an affronted sort of way, but accepted another fish quite happily.

Rita watched her go, then went to pour herself a glass of wine. Merlin, it was going to be a long night.
