[Lonely.

He wakes from this dream with an aching sense of loneliness, one that fades very slowly... this dreamer, whoever they were, they were very lonely. In the dream, at least... waiting for the woman to return (he didn't recognize her, though he thought he did in the dream) they had been so lonely.

He wonders how long they waited for the woman to come back, as he tries to go back to sleep.]

[Juhani tries not to think too much about this one when she wakes up. She gets up and finds things to do.]

[But if not for the vivid nature of the dream, it could almost have been one of hers, and... she does not want to dwell on that loneliness.]

[This one isn't enough to wake her. There's no jolt, no rush of adrenaline, simply the persistent ache of old loneliness.]

[If she'd woken, there would be the familiar mental litany. She knew she'd had to leave home. And while she didn't know the details of her reasoning, she knew herself well enough to be certain that she must have thought leaving nearly everyone behind was for the best.]

[Despite feeling guilt for her part in Lin's unhappiness, she also knows she can't give Lin what she thinks she needs.]

[So she doesn't wake. But her fingers tighten in the sheet, tears seeping from beneath her closed eyelids.]
