When you open your eyes, it's completely dark.

You try to stand up only to hear a dull thud that comes with a sharp pain at the top of your head.

"Ah--!"

Your voice has no echo to it, when you reach forward and then around you your suspicions are confirmed: you're trapped in a really small space.

You lean back against the surface behind you, listening to the sound of your breath, forcing your lungs to keep working, slowly, thinking to yourself only stupid people panic. And you aren't stupid.

You're not sure how much time passes, but after a while the roof begins to move over your head, yellow light flooding the small space around you and hurting your eyes. A... box? Are you in a box?

It takes you a while to make out the face that's looking at you, two curious golden eyes peaking over the edge of the box. You frown, and that's when they stare down at you, almost sad, and you really don't have it in you to keep glaring at them, even if you're still angry and confused and wondering why you've been put in a box.

The top of the box is pushed out of the way, two hands reach out to grab you and lift you up incredibly easily. You try to punch and kick but your arms and legs are too short, you're just a small child, and before you know it the person that pulled you up is holding you to her-- yes, that's most definitely a she-- chest, you can only look over her shoulder to try and figure out where you are.

The walls are crimson, the ceiling is green, the floor is golden like the eyes of the person holding you tightly. A strand of black hair gets in the way, and you can't help but sneeze hard. And you almost... almost feel like falling asleep.

You're not the littlest bit angry, or lost, or worried anymore. The woman holds you firmly, when she stands up and starts running you have no doubts she won't let you fall.

Which is a good thing, because she's incredibly fast. The world around you becomes nothing but a blur.

When she stops, she puts you down, brushes your hair away from your forehead, leaves there a kiss.

"I'll come back soon. Wait for me."

She smiles, and you finally get to see her well, even though you didn't have to: by now you had already figured out who it was.

She disappears before your eyes, so you wait for her.

When the sun sets you're still there, waiting. You lie down on the ground, curling up into a ball as the air around you becomes colder and colder. You wonder why she abandoned you there, she looked happy when she first got you out of your box (were you a gift?).

But she'll come back.

She promised.
