Jul 06, 2010 14:53

The weather outside right now is 99'F (which is 37'C), be we are being warned that it is likely to get to about 104'F (40'C). It's been like this since yesterday. We are all being advised to stay inside (although tomorrow is supposed to be less scorching).

I remind you I am still in the basic same area where we were covered in snow from December to ( Read more... )

I know it's SO HOT. It's like an inferno :(
Thank goodness for whoever invented the AC. That person deserves a Nobel Peace Prize - because without the AC, there'd be enough annoyed people outside causing trouble.

Get some good bug spray. And no, tiki torches don't count 'cuz they suck.

Me too!!! I hate it when that happens. And it's really really really hard not to scratch, especially when the bite accidentally brushes up against something... :(

I actually couldn't be more pleased with the weather. Not only would I absolutely take summer's heat over winter's chill, but after what these past 9 months have put me through, I'm all too happy for triple-digit temperatures =D

Would've really been nice to know about the air quality warning before I decided to stay outside for hours today, though. Oops.

Aside from the fact that you're a mosquito idol, definitely make sure there are no holes in window screens; whenever we find mosquitoes in the house, it's usually that. And just hose yourself down in bug repellent or something...

I totally disagree. I'd prefer cold over heat so much more, because it's much easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

Bad Jay. Check the news before you go out!!

There ARE holes in my screen. That's why I shut the windows as soon as I started seeing bugs in my room after I sprayed. But I'm still getting bit...

Repellents typically don't work for me though... the bugs bite me, then they die...

huh, explains why i saw that today was "Air Quality Awareness Day" on one of those amber alert signs! i couldn't help but notice that the air was unusually thick today; i attributed it to the excessive heat and humidity.

about the mosquitoes... maybe they're attracted to your natural scent? that stinks =/ also, adding to what your friend said above, bugs tend to waltz through the air conditioner as well. so, that's always a possibility.

Yup. Good they were getting the word out about it...

They are somehow attracted to me, definitely. And there's no air conditioner in my room, since I'm in the basement they wouldn't fit in the windows. However, like I said, there ARE holes in the screens, but I shut the windows when bugs were coming in after I already sprayed. Which makes it hotter in here... and I still get bit!!! :(
