There's a sharp divide in their lives now.

There's a distinct before and after.

For Xander, 'before' is Anya.

For Willow, 'before' is Tara.

For Buffy, 'before' is so many things. 'Before' is Sunnydale, and Spike, and her mother, and her innocence. 'Before' is what she can't ever get back.

But 'after' has it's benefits, too. Enemies who have become friends. A closeness with people she'd almost given up on.

"Hey, B?"

She looks up.

"Girls are itchin' for some action. You want some ice cream?"

Buffy smiles. "Yeah. Give me just a second."

She says goodbye under her breath, speaking to ghosts that are only present in her head, and smiles when she catches up with the group. Dawn throws an arm around her waist, talking a mile a minute.

Faith turns to her with a gentle, knowing smile. "You okay, B?"

Buffy nods and sets her arm across Dawn's shoulders. "I will be."
