Oh man, I can't wait to see this film.

This quote of yours is so interesting:

Is he gay, or is he just a guy that fell in love with another guy?

Some might say there's no difference, but I'm not sure about that. It really gets at the complexity and mystery of human sexuality. Does having a physical relationship with a member of the same sex automatically make one gay or bisexual? What about a crush? How about a one night stand, and that's your only same-sex encounter? Do you have to be capable of emotional attachment with someone of the same sex to be gay/bisexual?

I find life much more interesting when people are free and fearless and open-minded enough to explore that about themselves, and be understanding when hearing others' opinions and experiences. I'm not saying that people need to go out and sleep with members of their own sex to be qualified to do this, either. It's just great when people don't automatically pigeonhole sexuality.

You know they say that for women sex=love and for men sex=whatever and yeah those are huge stereotypes and crap, but when you look at men in general there's a slight truth to it.

Men are taught from a very young age that sex is KEY important and they're already dealing with weird feelings towards girls anyway so what a better platform to start off with than another guy. Not that it's a conscience thing -some people are just drawn to one another-, or that it's a permanent thing, but it is most definitely a thingJacob is brilliant (we know) and he wrote ".because none of them were conventionally sexual, or capable at this time of having feelings they would call romantic, because boys, to put it simply, were pretty weird and sometimes it would happen that a couple of boys, non-gay boys even, scared of the world or of girls or sex or whatever, that they would just get stuck looking right into each other’s eyes and caught there forever, making each other strong and useless and scary ( ... )

That was great. You're one of my favorite livejournals. Oh my goodness, I did not know that about Michelle Williams. Wonderful! I have to see this movie again. Just reading your review of it got me all misty-eyed.

I just saw this movie. OMG, the tension. The sadness. I wanted Ennis not to live such a lonely life but it was just that way and it was so sad. I don't know what to say.

I know, I spent the rest of the night thinking... What's he going to do now? I mean, he's definitely unwilling to move on, he's heart broken, and it's just so sad to think about. Sigh.
