It's been one week since...etc.

So what's happened in the past week?  Well, I did call the lawyer, but I couldn't get anybody but his secretary, who essentially said "We'll take a note, but we're going to keep sending you threatening letters anyway".  Obviously, Mom's sprung for the NetZero account...but the NetZero software is incompatible with the anti-virus program that came ( Read more... )

You can go ahead and uninstall the antivirus that came with your computer. Then go download yourself a copy of AVGFree and keep it updated.

Will do! Unfortunately, AVGFree is 37 megabytes, so it'll take about two days to load... Good thing I started now!

Huh. That went faster than expected. Never mind!

Whilst I'm normally the first to moan about GW's flagrant prioritizing of easy moneygrabbing versus quality rules development, I've got to admit the new daemon army is pretty cool. I never thought I'd say this, but I want to collect a Khorne army now.

Of course they're cool! The coolness is not in question! It's the need for a 12th army (counting 40 K alone; let's not even talk about Fantasy), when the new demon minis could have just been incorporated into the Chaos Marines, like all the other demon minis.

And what's going to happen to Chaos Marines now? Are they just going to be "regular Marines with horns glued on"? Are they still going to have demons in their ranks? If they have demons in their ranks because they worship demons, why shouldn't the Dark Eldar have demons too?

Le sigh. I never did like the way GW organized its codices. There is no good reason why the Imperium of Man should get four separate armies (two just for the Inquisition!), but the equally numerous Orks should have only one. I say, if you're going to devote entire rulebooks to a handful of nuns who specialize in white wigs and S&M, there should be rulebooks for the Kult of Speed, the Genestealers, the Exodites...

Games Workshop are forever having their "new, grand plan way we will now be doing codices", which usually lasts for about three or four codices before they decide on a new grand plan. Half the trouble is they can't stick with things. I do think there needs to be greater interplay between codices. At the moment, Inquisition forces can intermix with Imperial Guard and Space Marines, and this should be the same for a lot of other armies ( ... )

What did you think my post was? Grand literature?

Hey - we even missed a codex - Alien Hunters never appeared, which means there's now the oddity that only 2/3s of the Inquisition get a codex.

Why a Khorne Army can no longer summon a bloodthirster I'm at a loss at though...

I just got the books and so far I'm impressed with 4th edition. I haven't seen it in action yet so we'll see.

Ah, I see we haven't completed the whole "friend-to-friend friending" transaction yet. One of my very latest friends-only posts is about the new D&D, and while neither I nor most of the other LJ-ers I know are impressed, I'd be glad of another opinion, yea or nay.

I think a lot of people are still bitter about the whole 3.5 thing. I wasn't affected since I only bought 3.5 and not 3.0. That and people tend to not like change. There's people out there still playing 2nd edition.
