So earlier
I told you guys we can get the Frank Seal of Approval for our pr0n, a promise from LiveJournal that our pr0n won't invite the wrath of Warriors For Innocence, won't make advertisers sweat, and won't make Berkowitz cry like a baby.
But I forgot to tell you how!
Why live in doubt? You can find out if your first-year Snarry fic is okay with Six Apart! Just follow these easy steps!
1. Select an already posted story you think might be over the line, based on Six Apart's masterful description of obscenity laws
here and
here. Hints: Anyone under 18? Lots of bodily fluids described in loving detail? Manly buttsecks? Rimming? Golden showers? Come on, you know in your gut what bugs Corporate America, so don't be shy!
2. Open a
LiveJournal abuse case. Provide a link to your posted story, and explain the situation briefly. Suggested text from
burr86: hey is this okay? if not i can get rid of it? My suggestion: Does this work of fiction, authored by me, violate LJ's TOS? Please let me know, so I may promptly remove it if you find it violates the TOS.
3. LiveJournal staff will read your pr0n! Isn't that cool?
4. After that, I'm not sure what will happen, because only a couple of people have done this so far. I think 1] your abuse case will get an update that says This broccoli is sufficient or 2] your journal will be permanently suspended.
Many of us are confused by contradictory statements from Six Apart such as text...that explicitly depicts minors under the age of 18 (real or not) in a graphic sexual context is verboten, immediately followed by Romeo and Juliet is okay. Thanks to the ProcessTM above, we do not have to live in doubt and fear! We can get answers!
Those of us who write possibly obscene fanfiction tend to write a lot of it. Should you open an abuse case for each story? I recommend you don't, because it will be confusing for you to track so many cases. Instead, open one, listing a single representative storythe one which, if it gets Frank's blessing, guarantees all of your fanfiction would, too.
To avoid turning this into a write-in campaign, which LiveJournal says won't sway them, please do not open abuse cases for a friend's stories. Only open them for yourself. Savvy?
Please spread the word, people. Instead of leaving thousands of comments in
lj_biz, we can do something constructive, something pro-active! Come on, LiveJournal, get busy and read our pr0n!
Note: 1] LiveJournal cannot read your pr0n unless it is already posted. They are not reviewers. Don't ask them to beta. 2] LiveJournal reserves the right to randomly suspend your journal even after you get the Frank Seal of Approval. 3] I am fucking serious about this.
Edit: Be sure to read
abuse case procedure carefully. Please note you must keep all information private!
