Submission Question for LJ Land

Feb 26, 2007 16:22

It's four months since I snailed "Romeo, Unbound" across the Atlantic to Interzone. Anyone in LJ land know what's a reasonable time to wait before querying them as to whether it was lost in the murky depths west of the island?

Note to self: I really need to tackle the rewrite on "Sacrifices" so I can sub it to F&SF or Fantasy.

romeo unbound, sacrifices, interzone, submission

The main reason I'm asking now is I know they just finished their email subs about a month or so ago, and those were from September. My sub posted the last week of October, so it's probably right in the slush they're going over right now.

Steve, my last rejection from Interzone clocked in at just under three months (late November - mid February). I think three months is an entirely reasonable length of time to query a submission. Someone I know has one of their stories "on hold" at IZ, and it's been in that situation for three months.

If you send in a story during the occasional windows where they allow email subs you will probably get an answer from Jetse within a month.

I can't see how anyone could think that a politely worded query after a three-month wait is not reasonable.

Best of luck with it!

Thanks. Both of these pieces of information are what I was looking for to gauge the query. I only subbed to IZ once before and can't recall the time frame of the response.
