I recently had the same thing happen with several rolls of 400. So yeah, insisting on hand checking from now on.

I just realized that that film was NOT in my checked baggage. It was still in my camera because there are shots of LA at the end of the roll. The beginning of the roll was shot in Ohio. I always have my cameras in my carry-on luggage. Wow, now I'm gonna be extra, extra careful going through security.

Wow, that's cool. And eerie too. I'm trying to wrap my brain around the position of the film that would have created that pattern. In a diagonal position perhaps? Anyway, neat!

Kevin, I'm not sure if you get notified of other comments that I leave on other people's comments in these threads, but read my reply to Rik's comment above you for extra info.

But yes, trying to figure out that pattern is tricky. You have to imagine the film rolled up and then scanned at a diagonal direction, depending on which way the camera was laying in the carry-on.

Ew that sucks, it was in the carry on? I've never had that happen to me. This must be a new development in security. Good to know.
You know, I like the waves in the pictures. It's like some sort of Chernobyl-like series of photos. Like a post-nuclear ghost town.

You're correct; it's a sine wave.
