Excellent detective work there, Ms BG. I am, however, still disturbed by the the similarity in appearance between NewZebra's tongue and the sting of a triffid.

The triffid evolved to resemble the AnglerZebra to encourage it to become a triffid pollinator. Unfortunately, AnglerZebras became carnivores and ignored the triffids' highly specialised come-hither behaviour. Now there are no more triffids. Silly triffids.

Now that you mention it, I've not heard so much as a single report of triffids roaming the savannah in recent years.
