Thoughts on Danny...

Dec 18, 2012 23:55

It occurred to me today that Danny is, for all his ranting, and his aggressiveness as a detective, very passive and very accepting of whatever other people want. Oh he'll bitch about it until the cows come home, as he goes along with whatever ( Read more... )

you picked the thoughts from my brain!

at one point in time, I made the same realizations. never really voiced them though, but we're thinking along the same lines.

in my head, it's all because Danny is a pleaser. he rant and rant but he enjoy pleasing others. it gives him joy to be able to make others happy, even if by doing so probably won't make himself happy.

the most obvious evident, Grace. she wanted to hang out with her friends on Halloween. it obviously troubled Danny but he let her have her fun 'cause saying no to her was simply unfathomable to him.

and i have this irking feeling that if Steve didn't tell Danny to, Danny would've never asked Gabby out if left to his own device.

Danny has a little bit of martyr in him. he's no pushover though, he fights for what he believes in. like for Grace, and like for Meka even though Steve didn't believe him.

have i ever mentioned i love Danny? :D

I can see that, Danny being a pleaser. I think you may be right about Gabby--Steve all but goaded him into it.

I don't think he's a pushover, per se, just that he doesn't fight things unless they're extremely important to him.

For all that Steve is my first love, Danny is kind of awesome. :) They're kind of a matched pair...

See, I don't see Danny as passive, I see him as someone who gets his pleasure from seeing other people happy - and who as part of that has a strong caring streak. However, cross his line and he'll stick - which is where he is with Rachel moving Grace yet again.

I could see that, too. I just find it interesting how it's so opposite the way he would appear from his constant aggressive ranting. Just like he looks like he wears his emotions on his sleeve, when in fact he plays important things very close to the vest. He's fascinating like that.

A lot of his passiveness regarding Rachel might have to do with his own personal guilt at the marriage failing--so he goes along with whatever she wants because he feels it his fault that everything went to hell.

Re: Steve, I think he likes hanging out with Steve and he'll do whatever Steve wants, but he likes to give him a hard time first--just because :)

But now that he has a new family and he likes Hawaii now, so now he's going to protect what's his andI say--GO DANNY!! :)

That's definitely possible--either that, or it's the feelings he has for her that make him automatically want to give in.

He knows Steve likes to see him rant, so he does it just to please him, right? *G*
