Hey, help me out, friendslist. The Steve Carlson Band: How many people/instruments are there? I mean, Steve and his guitar, obviously (probably?), but what else? And are there any pictures from club shows, somewhere?

ETA: Um, forgive me for being so ignorant, but I just checked wikipedia about the subject, and he's playing all solo as well?

music, canon

busy boy

I guess you have to be if you're a full-time artist (or does he have another job?) and don't earn as much for your performances as Timberlake & Co.

What do you need pics for? I have a few (though mostly video) from Hotel Cafe shows last year that I could upload, but they're big files and the quality is only moderate (lighting at the Hotel Cafe is minimal).

As for the distinction between Steve solo and SCB, I've never been really clear on that. I mean, the solo album has a backing band, too, and while the songs are different, the sound is very similar.

I just need some visual aid for something I'm writing -- what's a typical stage look like, how big is the venue/audience usually (or in other words, would the guy on stage notice the other two guys toward the back of the room), just to get a general feel for the setting. I'm not so sure if I could even download your videos anyway, my connection here isn't the best, especially for large files, and the computer likes to freeze every other minute.

Do you know if Steve also has a band for the (solo) live concerts or just on the album?

Oh, well, okay, I can try to help with that, though "typical" is kind of a broad category. At the Hotel Cafe, which is where Steve's played just about every time I've seen him, the stage is set up from the table area by about 2 feet. It's small, but big enough to fit a drum kit in the back and three players in the front. There's also an upright piano over on the side, though it's mostly used for setting drinks on. The audience (at small tables) is close enough (in the front) to just about reach out and grab the guys. There are, I think, 3 sets of tables and then the bar area in back, as well as standing room behind the tables. A typical audience would be probably 40 at tables, and maybe 30-50 standing? More if the place is packed, less if it's a slow night. The guys on stage certainly can see people in the back of the room, but then again if they weren't looking they could overlook people, too, particularly if it's relatively crowded ( ... )

That was perfect, thank you so much!

And of course when Kane plays "acoustic," it's just Steve and Chris and Steve's guitar.

Oh yeah. I was lucky to see them like that last year.
