I thought that the heat references worked well for both the whole desire thing and for Stella's growing sense of both how much she wants this and how much she *doesn't* want to find herself trapped anywhere again. And I'm really just kind of fascinated by the dynamics among the three of them as they attempt to figure all of this out. They all seem to be acting (self-)protectively in various ways.
