Summary: Rin and Matt go to chase out Joshua and remind Hisoka of what his most recent purpose was.

After his bit of conversation with Joshua, his rambling conversation with Claire, and checking in with Sasuke to be sure someone was caring for him, he'd gotten up to go for a smoke. He pulled one free from one of the boxes hidden under the bed, and tucked it between his lips, hands shaking. They weren't shaking from cold - after his abortive nap, he'd been left feeling too hot, and wore only his shirt and jeans

Matt looked completely terrible, and Rin paused for a moment, looking at him with concern before she nodded and opened her fingers to show him the white twist of paper she held. "Got it." Worried as she was for him, there was no time to discuss it - well, practically no time, anyway. Rin gave him a firm look, her brow knitting. "Sleep tonight."

It was no time at all getting to Hisoka's door after that. She smoothed her feelings down as much as she could, trying for something that would be marginally comfortable for him to deal with, and then tapped politely at the door.

He gave her a nod, taking another drag from his smoke and inhaling deeply, blowing it out from between pursed lips, away from her, before licking his fingertips and pinching the cherry off of it, twisting the end to conserve the tobacco and tucking it into the rear pocket of his jeans, where the least damage would be done to it.

He took a shaky breath, and nodded, "Good. Ah. Yeah, I'll try." he swallowed, "Thanks."

He swallowed again, shoulders hunched, arms around his belly as if to calm it, and headed over to the door with her, "Ready." he murmured, just as she tapped the door.

Joshua looked over at the door, his sorrowful, sympathetic little smile slipping away for just one moment before returning and redoubling. "Hold on just one moment," he said to Hisoka with a minimum of condescension before standing and going to the door.

It wasn't any surprise, of course, to see who was there. The trio were inseparable, of course. The two were absolutely Hisoka's best friends in this place, and it absolutely warmed his heart to see this. At the same time, though, the poor dear was just so overwhelmed - perhaps it would be better if the two didn't fuss and cluck over him like a pair of worthless hens.

"Gosh, hi there," Joshua said, cocking his head to the side, placing his thin frame firmly in the gap between door and jamb. "You guys look upset."

For a second, Rin just stared at the stranger, wondering who he was. But recognition came fast and hard when he spoke. "Good evening, Joshua-san," Rin said, automatically smiling politely at him - pleasant expression or no, she was still very much aware of the adrenaline that had abruptly swept through her body upon realizing he was still there. Would this become a confrontation? She narrowed her eyes slightly, staring him down. "Upset? Oh, no. We were just planning on a quick visit."
