All the fencers I know wear these wonderful elk hide gauntlest. I have a pair in plain black, and they fit my pudgy mits like a second skin. Elk hide is a smidge thicker than you're looking for, but it's incredibly supple and forms to the hand wonderfully. Mine have the cavalry style cuff, which comes all the way up to the middle of the fore arm...

Where did you get yours? (The nice fencing gloves I've seen were for competition, so they're white. I loved the double-sided suede on the palm side for grip!).
To get something like that in black, I ordered something similar online from a ren-fair kind of place, but they were pretty bad when they arrived (they were true to their website photo, but they were hard to see in the photo) so your recommendation would be useful if the supplier is still around :)

Hmm. I purchased mine from an actual store that sadly is no longer in business (except on line) called medieval mayhem. But I think Triplette sells a decent pair, as well as Museum Replicas. Unfortunately, Gauntlets/Gloves/Gages are something that really NEEDS to be tried on...You might want to look in Biker shops too. I've seen riding gauntlets that fit the bill beautifully...TC

They have an online shop, and are available at large department store in the UK. I have a few of pairs of Dents gloves (some vintage, some not) and they stand up very well to punishment. The lambskin leather ones are particularly fine, very soft :)

And a couple from Google:

NAYY, I found this glover when searching the net earlier this year. I have very broad hands for a woman (size 9!!) and it's almost impossible to find anything to fit either new or vintage.
