Dear Steampunk friends
Earlier this year we announced the next instalment of White Mischief, the London neo-Victorian and steampunk themed one-night festival. We included some photos of dressed-up steampunk guests: these pictures can still be seen on Flickr under the tag whitemischief.
Now, with less than one month to go, we'd just like to remind you that White Mischief is coming up, themed to the Jules Verne classic "Around The World In Eighty Days". For full
Partygoers will have an opportunity to play Phileas Fogg, greeted by the mayor of a small town and visiting dignitaries! Our mysterious Hall of Oracles features fortune tellers and a snake dancer with a real snake. The venue will be decorated to evoke travels around the Victorian-era globe, by set designers who worked on Punchdrunk's "Masque of the Red Death".
On top of that we have Victorian comedy troupe the Penny Dreadfuls - who have their own radio show on BBC Radio 4 and BBC7, as well as their own Edinburgh show. There's an aerial acrobat, performing corde lisse above the audience's heads; there's a Guinness World Record sword swallower, one of the few female sword swallowers in the world; and numerous brilliant bands from Ebony Bones to Oojami.
