I have a similar steamer trunk but mine's from the garbage so it's not in very good condition, though it comes in handy for storage and serves double-duty as my end-table.
OMG what a great link! Thanks for the info! I am not planning to fully restore it, but some of those parts might be good to add. It's missing the straps and hold-downs for the straps, and getting a key to lock it again would be mighty awesome! THANK YOU!! I'm going to bookmark that link. One never knows when one might have a restoration job to do!
They're nice for traveling with but heavy and airlines hate them. If you travel by rail though, I'd recommend one. It's much more solid than most forms of baggage. I have a new one AND one from the age of Steam Rail that was owned by my great grand father who was an engineer.
Yeah, mine's going to store off-season stuff, too. SOME of my off season stuff. I'd need a trunk the size of Texas and half of Alabama to store it all.
