Piggybacking on this, Target's got the derby-esque hats that they've been selling in the lady's accessories section on clearance for less than four dollars per hat, among other hats.

This bowler is only $15 at Target and already has a zippy feather. It's a bit masculine for my tastes but maybe if I was wearing my knee breeches. It is a good bargain though, thanks for the tip.

Thank you, that is my most recent creation! It's all about the plumage, really. Without the sweeping feather, the hat's rather plain. I do love plumed hats, as you can tell!

Great great post. This is what it's all about. I am thinking inexpensive hats are like the model T: Any color you want as long as it's black.

Thanks, glad you liked it. Yeah, black is the most versatile. But I have to say, I have a royal blue hat that I very rarely wear because it's hard to match different shades of blue. I bring the accent colors in with the feathers instead.

Thank you! I am not as thrifty as people who actually cover buckram frames, but this is an easier and faster way to customize your hats. Felt hats can actually be cut into another shape and the edges don't fray as long as it's good quality wool or fur felt.
