Crochet Gears

Oct 04, 2009 15:16

I was pretty certain that this pattern or at the very least this website has been posted here before, but when I went through the tags and a cursory search of the archives I did not find it. My apologies if this is an ad nauseum posting. :0)

Rummaging about the forums on Ravelry today I found this:

knitting, crochet

I spin, knit, weave and tat, but I don't have any particularly steamy pieces on the go right now. I'm spinning yarn for a sweater, knitting armwarmer/gauntlet things, and every now and then I poke at some trim I'm tatting.

I really like those gears though, might make it worthwhile to learn a bit of crochet.

I knit, and I'm currently working on the Textured Circle Shrug and the Lace-up Opera Gloves for a steampunk party at the end of the month.

(I also have a Wisteria I'm working on, but that's not steampunk-related XD )

Knitting is on my list of things I should learn how to do one of these days. I learned how to crochet as a kid, and found it so easy that knitting was slow and frustrating in comparison. One of these days I'll give it a shot again, there are so many nice patterns out there...

That's such a neat pattern. Part me wants to put an inset of cogs in whatever my next clothing project is.

I knit, crochet a little and bought a set of tatting shuttles a few months ago, but I have no idea how to go about learning how to use them.

My Grandmother used to tat, but Mom and I could never quite get our collective heads around the concept. This spring a friend of mine showed me how to tat using just a needle instead of the shuttles and it clicked, although I haven't had time to tinker with it since. :0)

From what I have seen, there are some good tutorials online these days...

Well that's definitely a good excuse for me to get the crochet needles again. Thanks for sharing. :)

I am both a knitter and a crocheter and I have about six scarves going that I should be working on instead of trawling the interwebz.
