AN2: Yellow in various hues was massively popular in the Regency period. However, for men it would usually be used for trousers while coats were more commonly blue, green or brown. Thus Connor’s yellow hoody coat would still be a startling wardrobe addition.

Becker prided himself on keeping a cool head. You needed self-control to lead others.

The flash of a yellow collar did what battle could not.

Becker raced across the taproom only to find that it was not Connor but a young man with ginger hair. But it was Connor’s coat. He was certain. Had Connor sold it?

“Your coat! Where did you get it?”

The stranger tensed sullenly. He was half-drunk.

“Who cares? Wherever it’s from, it’s mine now.”

Something snapped.

When Lester pulled Becker away the stranger lay sprawled on the floor. His friend crouched by his side. Trembling.
