So we're going to try out having the weekly discussion post and the weekend workshop, and just kind of see which one is better, if we need both, if not, etc. Shaking things up a bit on you guys. :)
This week I'm thinking it might be helpful to talk organization. It's something we've talked about in past years I know, so for veterans of big bang challenges, what's the best way you've found to go about organizing yourself to get writing? Do you make an outline, how detailed is it, what sorts of notes do you keep on what you're doing? Do you use an anti-procrastination tool like Write Or Die?
And for the newbies (I know there are a bunch of you :)) is this the first time you've written a 15k word story? If yes, how are you keeping track of everything you want to write? Is there anything particularly daunting about this process, and is there anything you could use some advice or cheerleading on? That's part of why we're here, after all. :)
Me, I love outlines. In fact I find it hard to commit to a story without having an outline or at least a vague idea of how the plot is going to go. I keep a google doc to do my writing in, and a separate one to make notes in. That way I don't lose track of things (way easier than trying to locate post-it notes when you can't remember where you've stuck them...)
Happy discussing!
