yuppers to your list. I didn't suggest gatorade since too much *is* bad for you and Lemonade is not so bad.

An alternative to grilled chicken breast is boiled chicken breast. You can drop the chicken into pot of seasoned water and just leave it on the stove for 40 minutes, boiling (with a lid). Check on it now and then, but you don't have to stand over the heat as much as grilling.

i reccomend grilled cause summer time is always a great time to bbq.

and gatorade people swear that it's the end all be all but in reality you need to mix with actual water. another fave of mine is an overpriced vitamin water water with electrolytes added.

As a purveyor of sunscreen to the masses for nearly 5 years, I'd like to add to #5:

No matter how powerful your sunscreen is, if you are still out in the sun after 4 hours, re-apply it. Even the really good photostable, water resistant types will lose thier effectiveness after about that much time.

Apply lots. In the cosmetics industry, we actually use a general guideline of re-apply every 2 hours, because most people do not apply liberally enough, so if we get them re-applying every 2 hours, they actually wear enough that it works.

Put it on 15 minutes before your first exposure to sun, and count your four hours from your first exposure. Even if you are only outside for 30 minutes and then spend 3 1/2 hours indoors, you probably want a bit more, just to be safe.

Make sure your sunscreen filters UVA (causes premature aging) and UVB (which actually burns). Make sure it has photostable ingredients for best wear (mexoryl is good, and is in all L'Oreal brand sunscreen, I believe).

Okay, sitting down and shutting up now.

Good tips. We're on day 5 of 90+ degree weather here, & it blows chunks. I'm drinking water like a fish & trying to stay low.

I mostly figured that not *all* of my friends have my heat issues and most of them did not grow up in a desert... So they never *had* to learn how to cool down.

This is my "how to prevent serious illness and or death in the Staxxy" list.

It's nice that I've got one friend who isn't complaining about the heat but doing something about it. Everyone else is just being whiney about this.

I just don't see any sense in hoarding the knowledge. For most people, the high temps are just uncomfortable. For me, they are more threatening.
