As some of you know, my dad gave me a dog before he died. I've had her since I was 8. She was my Christmas present. My parents got her at the humane society and we changed her name from Peaches to Gracy. At the ripe old age of 18, Gracy peacefully passed away yesterday morning. I'm so sorry you lost Gracy, but grateful that she was able to leave peacefully.

Oh, I'm so sorry. It sounds like she lived a wonderful life and died a peaceful death. I hope the same will be true for my old dog.

Have you read the Rainbow Bridge book to Magdalena?

We haven't actually said anything to Magdalena about it. She knew she was sick and then she didn't actually see Gracy after she had gone. We figured we'd talk about it when she asked, but she hasn't. I think we'll leave it at that for now. She (unfortunately) will have plenty of opportunities to learn about death in the future.
