I already have a list of suggestions but it's not like I'll have time for all so just add to it.

I require recommendations of places to visit in NYC and San Francisco as I will be visiting both places next week.

I have a bunch of different things I'm interested in and I've already decided to go to a couple of museums, plus shopping for my mom and sister. Plus this is partially to broaden my horizons and stuff, so just recommend what you like.

I have no suggestions, but I just want to say I'm jealous. I love San Francisco. Never been to NYC though.

Haha, it took a ton of wheedling to get my dad to agree to pay my way for both. For a while I figured it would just be SF which is awesome by itself because it's the setting of one of my favourite book series, but NYC lends itself to a lot more stuff.

While in SF, drive a bit north and see Muir Woods. It's absolutely gods-damned amazing.

While in NYC, I endorse Ft. Tryon Park at the northern tip of Manhattan. Take a wander up it to the Cloisters. Look up and down the river.

What do you like?

I can't drive. >_>

Mostly I like books and comics and arty-farty stuff, but nothing that's too 'deep' if you get what I mean. I like to wander, though. I'll have a map so I can find my way back to the hotel, but beyond that I'm just exploring.

I was just in SF and went all over. Chinatown, Little Italy, Fisherman's Wharf, walked all up and down Market Street.

NYC... oh Lord, where to begin. what's your pleasure? there is tons. the basics though are Times Square, South Street Seaport, Battery Park City (and the Statue of Liberty), the MoMA, the Met, Central Park, 5th Avenue, there is tons of theater (and there is a two-fer board in Times Square where half price tickets are available daily).

Truth be told, the only definite thing about this trip other than the destinations is Broadway. Everything else comes from the suggestions of friends or where the subway and my feet take me. It doesn't have to be something I in particular would like as long as you find it interesting and would recommend it to someone else.

While in NYC, take the time to go down to Brooklyn to Junior's Cheesecake. (Yes, there's one in Times Square. No, it's not as awesome.) It is God's Own Cheesecake, right there.

there is also a small branch office of Junior's at Grand Central Station, or at least there was last time I was there, which was a few years ago.
