I have a dreadful time remembering the HTML for horizontal lines as scene breaks. So, I've experimented with different widths (across the page), sizes (thickness of bars) and colors. I'm pasting them here for future reference, and for anyone else who wants to use them. Of course, you can mix and match widths, thickness and colors to your own satisfaction. Have fun.
ETA: I'll be adding various combinations from time to time, so that I can copy and paste the bar I want in Word. So, if you see duplicate colors / sizes (mixed and matched), use them if you want, ignore if you don't.
ETA 2: I find, in my fic journal, that the bars don't always follow the plan; the bar is present, but the color and thickness may not be 'right'. I don't know if it's because my fic journal is a basic account, or if it's because it's a different LJ style. All I'm saying is -- it should work, but that doesn't mean it will. Good luck.
ETA 3: Other colors are available. You can just type in the color names of -- red pink magenta dark magenta violet dark violet purple blue dark blue light blue teal cyan dark cyan turquoise green dark green light green yellow gold orange dark orange tan brown silver dark gray gray
Remember the "no spaces after =" rule. Dark blue is coded 'darkblue', light green is coded "lightgreen", etc.
You can also use a color number from this page of 216
Non-Dithering Colors. Or use this easier-to-read list of some
hexadecimal codes in Live Journal.
Or this list of 142
named and coded colors. Or this
massive list of hexadecimal codes, sorted by color families. If you can't find what you want, I don't think you'll find it anywhere -- but there is a link to "mix" your own color if you want to be really creative.
As I said -- have fun!
And that's it for this post. I have other tips on making LJ work for you in
