You know, this was nicely hot, but the thing I liked most about it was the characterization. Han's voice was fairly consistent and 'on' with what we've seen of him in canon, and Leia's reaction to the whole thing also seemed very consistent with what we saw of her character.

Nicely done.

Thank you, I take that as a very great compliment! I tried to keep them both in character as much as possible and I figured the flirty banter would continue over into...other things. And the tension.

This is great! Hot but humorous, very in-character, feels very real as a first-time scenario.

"A blaster?" made me gigglesnort. :)

I tried to make it pretty realistic - it's still a little awkward but there seems to be a reason why ladies love Han. Teehee! The blaster line made LOL out loud when I thought of it. Leia likes to think she knows everything but I imagine she slips up every once and a while to hilarious results. Thanks for reading!

*cackling with laughter* The best line so far:

“You stupid scruffy two-bit dumb as a dewback nerfherder, I should - why I never - you aren't a nice man!”

If you find it strange I'm so amused, just know that now I laugh with no abandon at the H/L parts of Empire. It's too terrifically awkward not to.

Okay, serious now (awww). That was some finely crafted, well thought out, splendidly characterized piece of fiction. I didn't really notice any shoddy grammar you warned about. And this didn't really read like a smut for smut's sake piece--it's psychologically pleasing, giving us a glimpse of Han that we really don't get to interact with very much. The banter is priceless, and it has atmosphere. Smashball (ten points for the smashball reference, btw), mini flashbacks--it's as close to perfect as it could come. Wonderful job.

Nope, didn't notice any shoddy grammar in your piece--just my own comment. That's what I get for self-editing mid thought. *facepalm*

Heh. Leia's insults fail when she's angry. I love the H/L bits in Empire! They're my favorite and they make me giggle. You're so sweet! To be honest I pieced together other things I'd written and tried to make a coherent piece of it. I'm glad it wasn't just PWP, even though that's not a bad thing. The banter came easier than the rest of it did. Yay smashball! I like to think Han had a collection of weird t-shirts from intergalactic sporting events. Mini flashbacks are irresistable too! Batman fan hey? I saw the movie opening night and it blew my mind. I've been on a Batman kick ever since and it blew my mind even more than Batgirl is his love child with Catwoman! And she was on Birds of Prey! I didn't even understand that show when I was younger. Craziness!

Actually, you're thinking of Helena, the Huntress. And as much as I liked Birds of Prey--and pre-ordered the show when it was announced for DVD--they took a few liberties with the official Bat-canon. Huntress is only Bruce's daughter in BoP; however, their is an alternate reality in the Earth-II continuum where the current Huntress is Helena Wayne.

Coincidentally, Selina now has a daughter named Helena--but by another man. The original Batgirl has always been Barbara Gordon, Jim's adoptive daughter.

Sorry if I sound like a know-it-all that way--I've been a Batfan from the age of about 3. And a stickler for details and precision since I was nine.

Dark Knight=love, love love.

"But like most times, plans went out the window as soon as reality hit. Things never turned out exactly the way you wanted them to."

How true is this, especially coming from 'never tell me the odds' Han. This was really nice and peppery, just the thing from ESB times. Good!

Sometimes it's best not to freak out when plans go awry, it's better to go with the flow. Saves people a lot of stress. Oh ESB, how rife you are with romantic tension and plot possibilities. Thanks for commenting!

At least the inevitable emotional outburst hadn't been anything like let's live happily ever after and get married and have three kids.

*gigglesnort* Oh, Han, you have no idea!
