Don't look outside, there's robot cars

I told Meg I'd do this, and as I have to leave to write an exam shortly after having got maybe six hours of sleep, I am in the prime condition to make good on really stupid things I promised to do.

So! Fic-type thingies request is now open!
I think anyone who would a) request something and b) have their request actually acknowledged instead of being ( Read more... )

One day, Impulse appeared, much to the confusion of the assembled Teen Titans ( ... )

I think I have "Identity Crisis" around here. I should really read that at some point ... except it may be in a box in the new apartment now.

I'd /love/ a book with a teen Bart trying to pull off the Flash thing. I mean, come on, how could that /not/ be fun and awesome? A sixteen-year-old trying to play with the big leagues? The closest you get is the Star Spangled Kid with the JSA, I think. It'd be great to see Bart return to his sitcom roots. Alas, alas, I weep for the lack of love for quirky.

LA LA LA!

I hear good things about Ollie, I just ... have no money, and when I do I'm planning on using it to buy all those back issues of the last version of Legion of Superheroes that I can't FIND ANYWHERE MORE CONVENIENT. RAGH.

Identity Crisis is one of those things where they first time you read it you sit there and you're shocked and blown away and emotionally involved, then if you reread it you realize all the little points where the ball got dropped. Still very solid, imho. Just not quite end all-be all.

... ow. Ow. Bart in the JLA. OW. Damn it ST! That was my brain. (But really, if Bart was the Flash the quirky would probably go away since it's hard to be the straight man/hero if you have pictoral thought bubbles.) *sigh* I miss the thought bubbles.

Awww, but it was definetly wibble worthy.

And I have scans of the first GA story arc if you'd like. It's the stint that Kevin Smith wrote and the dialogue is awesome. And I can hunt down later scans of this really cool arc where Ollie and Roy go road tripping and psuedoly bond and it's just-- if you're a Roy Harper fan, it's a must read. See! No comic book store trolling needed!

I firmly believe that a gifted writer could manage to make a quirky Flash with thought bubbles. I just don't believe that writer would be allowed to touch anything that could bring me joy.

I ... might not be opposed to this thing you speak of ... maybe ... ~suspicious~

The publishers are evil. Ebil! I fairly believe that both Marvel and DC need to rethink their business strategy. I give Quesada a lot of points with his revamps in Marvel since he took over but... still, it's a fledging industry and it's not getting any better. They're banking on their franchises and Hollywood lately.

It has good dialogue~ It has great dialogue. Ollie comes back to life but his memories only go up to the time of his death (and he doesn't realize how much time has passed) so everything is different. It's hilarious because GA and Aquaman both stop and deadpan at each other with a, "What the hell happened to you?"

Oh! And when Ollie goes up to the JLA headquarters and they're doing all the reunion thing and everyone's asking him how he came back and what happend and Ollie's all sorts of confused-- Batman just comes in and knocks him out while the rest of the League is just "..." Because he's a suspicious mofo like that. It's awesome.

Bah! Hollywood!

I guess that sounds ... interesting ... especially the bit with Batman. Because Batman's funny.

I already have a love-hate relationship with the new X-men movie. ._. I really didn't like the first movie, I sort of liked the second one, I think the plot of the third one is boring but... Kelsey Grammar! *conflicted*

The dialogue is wonderfully deadpanned. Kevin Smith definetly knows how to do tongue-in-cheek comedy. I shall upload for you tonight and you can poke at your leisure?

I remember seeing the second movie ... I didn't like it. But then, I'm not an X-men fan.

I think it would be difficult for me to object to this arrangement!

I like the X-men. I sort of fall in and out of them because, well, they get really stupid and really emo at times. It's not even the "I don't like it stupid" it's the assinine stupid. The good thing about the X-men is that there's a 1,000 and one mutants so you'd really be hard press not to find one that you can fall in love with.

I am pleased by your decision, my apprentice. Together we will rule the galaxy!

I think the reason I /don't/ get into the X-men is because there's 1000 of them. It's just ... dude. Too much is too much, you know? And with emo on top of that.

Bah! I'm only doing it because the internet refuses to make me happy with Legion!

Well the thing with X-men is that everyone cycles in and out. There's only about 30 of them running around at a time (and in different books) and the rest just fade into the background or come back around eventually. Like all those minor characters in Star Trek. Because everything is team centric there's only about six to eight people on a team. Except for Wolverine. Because he's on every team. Every.

Y'know, I wish I could single out an X-character you'd love because they really have wonderful, wonderful characters. Although your brain would probably swim and you'd drown and then hit me. ._. *hides*

I see through your evil plans! But I'm not fussy! I'll take it.

See, the number of books is /also/ daunting. Also the fact that I don't care for Wolverine, except as a topic of mockery due to his being on EVERY TEAM. EVER. Even if there was an All Girl team, Wolverine would be on it. Even if it was a team of FIVE-YEAR-OLDS, Wolverine would be on it.

No, no, if you singled out an X-character I'd love, that character would also be DEAD.

Desperation smells like comics!

The good thing with the books is that they're usually self contained. I've gone for years just buying the books my favorite characters are in and ignoring all the others. It's sort of akin to reading "Robin" but not reading "Detective" or buying "Birds of Prey" and not buying "Batman", y'know? (I think the Bat books might actually be on par with the number of X-titles. ^^;;;;;)

Oh, and funny thing about the Wolverine team thingy? There was a one-shot called "Wha? Huh?" that was spoofing comics and one of the jokes was "What if Wolverine joined "Runaways"?" and then there was a little caricature of BKV holding sacks of money while the Runaways kids were like -__-

*ponders* No... I think all the X-characters are alive right now. Unless you liked Jean. And I don't think you'd like Jean. You'd probalby like Bobby. Or Gambit. (Actually, if I had to pick one random comic book character that you'd like, off the top of my head, it'd probably be Franklin Richards. =P)

But ... I don't read the Bat books, either!

... But Wolverine /was/ in Runaways. PARODY HAS BECOME REALITY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY.

... I ... I ... did you just insinuate that I would like /Franklin Richards/? Franklin Richards, son of Reed 'I'm totally not an egomaniac' Richards and Sue 'Eventually they decided to stop referred to me as girl, considering I'm popping out babies' Storm/Richards? Franklin 'Most powerful mutant in the world' Richards? /That/ Franklin Richards? WHERE IS YOUR LOGIC?

Bah! But you should! Where is your Tim Drake love, yo? (Or DIck Grayson for that matter?)

Y'know, the thing I don't get in Runaways was the fact that Molly wanted to marry him and when they actually did meet, she punched him clear out of the church. --the hell? Where'd the fangirlness go?

... ... so I take it Franklin's out? *coughs* I have logic! *attempts to have logic* Franklin is seriously, one of the cutest things to ever cute. Yeah, his mom and dad are (usually) boring and Reed does absolutely zip for me (and I think his powers were weird.) However, Franklin is the most adorable puddin' dear. Most powerful mutant in the world and yet still a kid and it's adorable ( ... )

... I don't really have any Tim Drake love. Or Dick Grayson love ... Um ... Cough ...

Well, I guess it's the difference between little girl wanting to marry Wolverine and being in a tight, scared spot, and not thinkin' so clearly and really just seeing a scary adult comin' atcha.

Also, the funny potential for Wolverine to be beaten up by an adorable little girl.

I /have/ seen the li'l comics with Franklin and those are adorable but ... man, so many people seem to react badly to him.

I do need to read me some Fantastic Four, though.

BACK TO LOGIC CLASS WITH YOU.
