Playing FF:CC- Crystal Bearer with Shell yesterday got me thinking:

"Chocobo."

Now me, from the first moment I saw them in Final Fantasy VII, I pronounced it as "CHOCO- BOW" (Choko [Chocolate], bow [bow and arrows]). I couldn't see it as anything but. All of my friends at school said it the same way as I did. Then came Final Fantasy X, and suddenly

I think they pronounced it choco-bow in that godawful anime a while back...

The word itself is pronounced more like Choke-a-bow in Japanese, but since "Choke-o" （チョコ）　is how Japanese people refer to chocolate because they don't have a more accurate way to pronounce it, technically Choco-bow could still be more "correct" if the name actually comes from the word 'chocolate'? I'm just not sure what chocolate has to do with bird things.
