I'm, um, slightly shocked. I just found a plagiarization of my paper "The Impact Of The Titanic Upon International Maritime Law" on Fictionpress.com.

Here's mine, as published on Encyclopedia Titanica (my proudest achievement ever):
Impact of Titanic Upon International Maritime Law

Here's the rip-off:

head asplode, writing, titanic, hall of shame, wtf, do not want, not amused

I actually just got a PM from her saying it was a rought draft and she re-uploaded the essay to her final version. I haven't looked it over yet, buuuuut... as said, I already e-mailed the department head. We shall see, I guess?

I hope you preserved the "rough draft" for presentation to her school.

I say go get her and hang her out to dry.

For those of you interested, here it is reuploaded:

Dammit, I should have, but I didn't expect her to re-upload it. And I thought I was going to be all sneaky and use the Internet Archive, but FictionPress blocks it. :(

GOOD FOR YOU! Plagiarism is DISGUSTING, even when it's not verbatim with words, it's ideas too.

I'd be interested to see what her professor says.

She sounds like she's ridiculously dumb.

I'm interested too, not to mention slightly apprehensive.

she's gonna get her ass nailed. I'm entirely too gleeful about this but I have no tolerance for plagiarists. Its dumb to do that but even dumber to put it on the Internet.

I only seem to be able to summon a vaguely amused "wat". I mean, someone plagiarizing ME? Maybe I should be weirdly flattered. Even as I attempt to wield the banhammer.

Even a rough draft shouldn't look like your original paper. Stick it to her.

An attempt has been made. :)

Not to mention she used "Affect" when she should have used "EFFECT"

I would not have put a head's up to her. I would have just notified the department head and watched the fireworks. You gave her a chance to cover her tracks. Not good.

You'll love this from her profile:
Dislikes: school (sometimes), high school guys who think their cool (because they are totally not when they're compared to college guys), superficial and fake people, brussel sprouts, people who can not grasp the basic concept of grammar in the English language, cliched high school romance stories (been done way too many times)

I agree on the covering her tracks, as she's done that already, and if you've not preserved the webpage somehow, it's your word against hers.

Also, she misspelled my name. Ergh.

I kinda wish I hadn't now, since FictionPress blocks the Internet Archive and I can't pull up an archived page, but... what's done is done. I actually feel slightly stupid, having contacted the head of her history department, but I wasn't really sure what to do.
