I'm, um, slightly shocked. I just found a plagiarization of my paper "The Impact Of The Titanic Upon International Maritime Law" on Fictionpress.com.
Here's mine, as published on Encyclopedia Titanica (my proudest achievement ever):
Impact of Titanic Upon International Maritime Law Here's the rip-off:
The Titanic: Her Affect on the Maritime Industry My jaw is literally swinging. The "author" quoted me, though they misspelled my name, but the entire essay is a re-worded hash of my own paper. I've already reported it to the website for abuse, and I'm thinking about leaving a bitchy review saying "thanks so much". Basically, I'm just... speechless. I wasn't even running a related Google search when I ran across it. (It was "Harold Bride" and "fan fiction". Because some of the shit spewed by the teenybopper fanspawn of Cameron's movie has to be read to be believed.)
*goes off to be in disbelief*
EDIT: Chick wrapped her own noose... the summary for the entry on her profile page says it was written for a historical methods class, PLUS she names her university. I simply moseyed on over to the university website and looked up the e-mail for the head of her department. As Darth Vader once said: "All too easy."
EDIT 2: Just got a PM from her saying the essay posted was a rough draft and now she's reuploaded it. >_> Looking over it, there are still some paragraphs that look a hella lot like mine. My stance remains the same.
