It saddens her when she realises that she hadn’t been so indispensable to him after all.

JFC LHARA JUST KILL ME.

I DO NOT LIKE YOU. AND BY THAT I MEAN I LOVE YOU. BUT OH GOD.

Even though you gave me a fair warning I wasn't prepared for how angsty this would be. Although thank goodness for the Merlin section, or I would have been an absolute mess.

WHAT HAS THIS SHOW DONE TO US?

(Although I'm grateful to that wretched story line if only because it resulted in this lovely piece and more Merlin fic from you.)

Going to go drown my sorrows in chocolate. IF I'M FROWNY FACE DURING THE PANTO YOU KNOW WHY.

OH DON'T WORRY, JEN. NO DOUBT THE TWO OF THEM WILL RECONCILE IN THE SHOW AND ARTHUR WILL FORGIVE HER AND GWEN WILL FORGET WHAT SHE WENT THROUGH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Lol, I think writing this made me in a bad mood. I went to take the dog for a walk and was not ~happy.

I do honestly think Merlin is Gwen's safetynet; despite what others think, he isn't to blame in this. He's the only one who cared for her wellbeing.

THIS SHOW HAS TURNED US INTO CYNICS.

Thank you, lovely!!! I hope you have decent chocolates. And if a cheesy panto doesn't help, then we're doomed!!! ♥

BUT I DON'T WANT THAT.

Aw, I'm sorry, bb. D= Hopefully we can fix any bad mood with today's outing!

Oh God, yes, yes he is. And if the show goes the way we all expect, I will be watching it purely for Merlin/Gwen (is it sad that now all I want out of this freaking episode is for Arthur to apologize and recognize his decision was a terrible one? Not even recognizing that he abused his power -- just that he made a mistake. WHY DOES THIS SHOW MAKE IT SO I HAVE THE LOWEST EXPECTATIONS?).

In all of my tears over this fantastic piece, I forgot to say the most important part: this is amazing, bb. ♥ Hurt like hell, but EXCELLENT.

I hope so! Today at work was stressful, so...

IKR!!! Our expectations should be higher...

Thank you, Jen, so glad you think so! <333

Excuse me while I sob!

Thank god you warned that it would be filled with angst!!!!

This was just a beautifully sad wonderful fic! I have no words. Although I wish that it ended happier for A/G I kind of think that the way you ended in some ways was great too. I guess in my mind it may actually make Arthur realize more the hurt and pain he put Gwen through and to think through more clearly and be the King that Gwen believed was there. Maybe he will take steps to do what he promised he would do and in time maybe Gwen could forgive him and get back together...

Sorry kind of went off there.... I know that some people may not want Gwen to take Arthur back. But I think that maybe in time she can. I don't think Arthur should be forgiven easily, mind you. She should make him work for it.

Thank you, Millie!

You're right - I think in time, Gwen would forgive Arthur and possibly take him back, but it would take a lot of time and healing.

She should make him work for it.

Truer words were never spoken! ♥

Yeah I think so too. I know people think that just coz I can see Arthur's pov in 4x09 that I condone his banishing of her. I get why he did it but I hated it too. Really it left me feeling conflicted.

For me the issue for both Arthur and Gwen is trust. They both lost trust in each other, for Arthur his old insecurities about Lancelot came back. For Gwen I'm sure when she finds out about the bracelet she will be very angry with Arthur and the others for not considering that.

So really they do need time away from each other so that they can re-build trust in each other.I just hope that we get Gwen POV and Arthur realizes how his actions has affected Gwen and made her suffer. I know that Arthur loves Gwen but it doesn't mean that he has't done things to hurt her.

Sorry I seem to have a lot of conflicting feelings on this. I just feel for Gwen mostly and Arthur too. I just get both sides of it really and I know most people hate Arthur atm.

It was definitely conflicting. I, too, sort of understood why he banished her, but he didn't have to banish her from the kingdom, and given what is implied (that Gwen is assualted by Helios et al), it taints Arthur's decision considerably.

Yes, trust is an issue, though if Arthur finds out the truth, I hope that mistrust turns into sheer shock. But Gwen will take a while to trust in him again.

And you are right - they need time away from each other. I think it's important for Gwen to build herself up again and rediscover who she is without Arthur.

I am conflicted about Arthur. I used to love who he used to be but right now? All I feel is disappointment. He's becoming the king who made all the wrong choices.

Oh gosh am I the only person who read this and thought GOOD? I don't want Gwen to forgive Arthur. Maybe someday but certainly not quickly. Banishing her was a huge betrayal of trust and abuse of his power over her and like you pointed out in your story, not that different from how Morgana treated her.

It occurs to her that Arthur really isn’t too dissimilar from Morgana - with his tendency to pick her up and disregard her like a toy at his convenience.

Brilliant line.

Lol, actually I think most people are also thinking 'good!' I definitely don't want Gwen to forgive Arthur but I fear she will all to readily.

Thank you bb, glad you liked that line!

Oh, I definitely was thinking "good" as well (and the idea that Arthur/Gwen might be back together and smiling by the end of Saturday's episode makes me really, really unhappy). But I'm also mourning what was one a glorious ship. HOW COULD THE WRITERS DO SO MUCH DAMAGE IN SO LITTLE TIME? D= Thus the tears and screams of despair. ;_;

The Merlin staff has a fantastic talent for destruction I will agree. I'm sad to lose A/G but at the same time I was always looking at that ship through the lens of Gwen being my absolute favourite so now that the writers have gone there and will never deal with the fallout appropriately I'm taking alot of catharsis from fic (there was one Kill Bill AU starring Gwen that came out last year and I've been trying to find it since 4.09 aired because perfect outlet for my feelings but no luck to date).
