My AC adaptor isn't charging the battery on my laptop anymore. I didn't notice this until after the battery had already run down (it probably came unplugged when I wasn't paying attention). Now the battery has no power left in it, so if the computer comes unplugged, it immediately shuts down. I'm lucky that it will still run when plugged in, but ( Read more... )

That's what happened to mine...except the problem was with the battery itself (it was leaking...ew) not the charger.

my dad is helping me get a new one for when I start school again in the fall, but right now I'm also stuf with a non-portable laptop...

Is it worth it to buy a spare battery (one that swaps in for your DVD drive) until you get a new laptop?

So what happened with York? Did you not get in?

My dad's laptop had that problem before and just had it happen again.

The problem (for him anyway) is that if you never run the laptop off the battery (you just plug it in at all times as if it's a desktop), the battery kills itself. This time, the battery was actually causing the computer to act up. It works fine with no battery in it though. If you have a laptop, it's best to run it off the battery (to run it out particularly) every now and then. Maybe once or twice a month at least.
