Soundtrack, Show #15 - "Before You Were Born"

The new edition of Soundtrack, my music/thematic podcast, is up and ready for download. Grab it and do with it as you will. I usually recommend putting them to CD and then going the stereo or car route. And with this particular show, "Before You Were Born", I think it would sound really good en route to somewhere or, on the opposite end, as Sunday ( Read more... )

I'll be doing final preparations for the Relay tonight. A new Soundtrack will make a great, well, soundtrack, for cleaning up, I'm sure.

I just started listening, but I had to say I couldn't agree more with your comment about those VH1 specials. I have found them entertaining in the past but after awhile the compartmentalizing and commodifying of certain eras just gets old. What's worse, it puts a lot of really great music, that sounds just as vital today as the day it was recorded, into that nostalgia box that is ultimately kind of airless and joyless and not that much fun.

Not sure exactly what I'm saying here, but I'll climb off my soapbox now...

I downloaded the program and listened to it on my PC. I enjoyed it so much that I burned it to CD and will be relying on it for the soundtrack to my morning commute.

This is the first of these posts that I've been exposed to and I have to say, I'm looking forward to participating in future solicitations for songs almost as much as I'm curious about posts #1-14 (if still available, that is).

Very nice work, sir...and thanks for inviting me to share the ride.

I think I will begin re-posting some of the older shows, especially as they tie in to certain times of year. For example, I did a Prom-themed one and a Summer-themed one. So I think you'll be seeing those re-posted sometime soon.

Glad you like the lastest one. :)

After a couple of spins in the car, I want to compliment you (again) on the great thing you got going on here. Not only did you include some great music - the Hollies (my fave from them), the Beach Boys, and Buddy Holly - but the little extras really added a nice touch.

I enjoyed the old commercials and it was fascinating to hear how differently things were marketed back in the day. So simple and direct. Popsicles! They're on a stick!

What I found to be the coolest of the extras were the inserted commentaries on the songs and the inclusion of the names of the requesters. Since I've been a friend and mixed-CD exchanger with Mr. Ed for a while now, it was nice to be able to link the songs on your mix with the kinds of tunes he's already sent me. It helps add more colour to the portrait that our exchanges have already begun creating.

btw - if I'm providing too much feedback just tell me to shut up. There's few things I love more than music so you're hitting me in a sweet spot. :)
