When she had first discovered her new strength and powers, Faith had been scared. She had been walking home late at night when she had suddenly felt a rush of power race through her. Almost immediately afterwards she had encountered a vampire that she barely managed to kill. It had been a frightening process that she had gone through alone. By the time her Watcher had arrived from England, Faith had harden herself to the Council and its representatives. She blamed them for her experiences and for her lack of knowledge of what she was. Although she cared about her first Watcher in the end, Faith always would hold a deep sense of mistrust for the Council that had failed her.

Even before she had been called as a Slayer, she had been alone and without a family or friends. Seeing Buffy surrounded by her mother, her sister and her devoted friends had helped to push the brunette over the edge. And although she had rebelled against her fate for so long, Faith found herself back on track following the epic battle against the First. She ended up going to Cleveland, while the others all seemed to head for exotic locations. In Cleveland, she found a surrogate family in the newly called Slayers who she helped to train and guide. Faith no longer felt an intense need to compete with Buffy; instead she felt more at peace with herself. And now she no longer felt alone, she had her own family of sorts.
