Some Japanese people have brown eyes, but I guess they consider them black...?

I'm pretty sure it's basically 'any hair color that is not black'. Still, the ego stroking is nice, not going to lie. I remember being pretty taken aback when I first started teaching here, suddenly going from 'Oh my god she's so fat and bitchy' in university in the US to all my students being like YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL WITH YOUR LONG HAIR AND YOUR PALE SKIN I WISH I HAD YOUR EYES.

What always baffled me was that Japanese students told me my eyes were brown, but theirs were black - even though they were the same color as mine are.
