Characters: thedragonsblood and star_kingdom, perhaps! World | Location: Traverse Town; 1st District Date | Content: Current! It is Dany's first day. Rating: TBD, but I think it'll be pretty safe.
That forlorn young woman noticed almost immediately that she was being stared at and she rose her head to look for the offender. When Dany spotted the older man watching her as he walked, she felt far safer simply by recognizing that he wasn't a fellow inhabitant of her world. The fur-lined coat caught her eye, though she straightened her back proudly and addressed him in a strong, firm voice, "May I help you?"
"I did not request aid," Dany replied matter-of-factly, not allowing herself to cower at the sharpness of his retort. "Nor had I been staring at you." This wasn't a game to the khaleesi, though she could understand why he'd responded the way he did; she was a young girl, clad in animal furs and leathers, barefoot and petite. Even she would have pegged herself for helpless if she was in his position. She guessed she truly was helpless, but instead of conceding, she merely reminded herself, I am the blood of the dragon, and she felt stronger for it.
Locke noticed a barefoot girl, sitting on the steps. He wondered why she had no shoes. Had she lost them or had they been taken? The protector in him took root and he had no choice but to approach her and try to help.
"Hi, I'm Locke. Did you lose your shoes?" He couldn't help but take his eyes off her feet, worrying that she could be injured. He doesn't step to close to her however for fear of scaring her.
Dany hadn't spotted the young man walking towards her as she had stood up and was contemplating a direction to head off in when she stepped up to her. Hearing his question, she quirked a brow in puzzlement, uncertain of what he meant until she followed his gaze down to her feet. "My sandals?" she said, more for her benefit than his. She felt mildly embarrassed at her lack of ability to blend in being so bluntly pointed out, but she buried the feeling fiercely as she offered up an answer.
"I... was preparing for sleep when the shadows came," Dany explained, "I was not wearing any before I was brought here."
She needn't be embarrassed to be seen by a thief treasure hunter like Locke. He was in the business of noticing details, but he was surprised to hear of someone wearing sandals.
Locke frowned slightly, tugging on his bandanna. "That explains it! They might have some sandals here in Traverse Town!"
Who was this young man and why was he so willing to help her when she hadn't even asked for any aid? The last time someone was so curiously kind to her, she discovered that they were actually an assassin sent to murder her and her unborn child. That had been her own personal lesson in humility - one she never thought she would have had to learn, unlike Viserys, her brother, who was always so easily fooled by those who flattered him and encouraged his delusions of entitlement.
"I do not mind walking this way for a while longer," Dany insisted. She couldn't bring herself to trust the stranger so easily, although he did have a kind face and voice. "Thank you."
