WHO: Barnaby, Chloe, and Ciel. [Closed] LOCATION: White Rose TIME: At this moment. WHAT: Barnaby is considering to quit his job. What will that lead to? RATING: G, possible PG-13 for language?
Chloe didn’t even bother to glance at Ciel, though if he had he might have noticed the imposing irony of two stern faced people sitting in a very similar guarded fashion. No doubt they made an intimidating pair and perhaps that was to a certain degree why Barnaby hesitated to say anything for what felt like the longest time. When Barnaby finally did speak what he said was jarring. Not that you could tell. Dealing with two Brit’s as he was the immediate reaction was … not to react at all. More silence. They just watched him with out moving or saying a single thing. Letting the phrase ‘quit this job’ settle in

It was obvious that something was on Barnaby's mind but for whatever reason he wasn't immediately sharing it. The lure of the tea prevented the boy from inserting, "If you have something to say then just get to it". Once the cup had been drained he wouldn't be as patient. Thankfully, his urging wasn't needed as the issue was finally revealed. At first, Ciel wasn't sure if Barnaby was serious or not. The idea of leaving a stable job just out of the blue for nothing (as far as he knew) would be idiotic.
He turned the empty tea cup idly with one hand, while he propped his head up on the other looking nothing if not disinterested or even a touch annoyed by what Barnaby had said.
He allowed Chloe to respond first only to find a reason to turn his glower on Chloe instead of Barnaby. "I'm like what to everyone?" He muttered partially under his breath. As Chloe proceeded to tell Barnaby to "ignore him when he gets like that" made the Earl narrow his eye drum the table with his fingernails. This was not going in a pleasant direction

Barnaby was quite glad that his grandparents took the trouble to migrate to America so he didn't had to deal with these kind of English gentlemen - especially those who took backstabbing as their favourite hobbies. He was here to inform them his intention to quit the job, not to see them glaring at each other and changing the topic into fixing some certain traits of the young aristocratAnd Ciel really had to stop euphemism of all sorts to get the answer he wanted to hear about, because it would take some time for him to elaborating his answer before getting to the Halloween Costume part

A little harmless teasing just to get a rise out of Ciel. When he does respond Chloe merely smiles at him, fully aware of how to push Ciel’s buttons by now. Really he liked the kid and would do what was necessary to protect him if a situation where he needed protecting would arise again. Fortunately that hadn’t been necessary for some time
