Wow, she whined about "poor characterization" in a fanfiction and yet, she had it in her characters herself? Thats just, stupid.
People need to learn to shut up some.
I do like you do when I read something I don't like. I go "o.o eew" and then hit the back button on my broweser and try to forget. No point in going reviewing and go "Omg ur story sucks!!"
In constructive criticism you tell the writer about wrong grammar, sentences looking weird and tying together the story if its incoherent in some places. If you know the writer kinda, you can also give ligt tips.
And the OOC thing.. Yes! All stories are OOC unless the original creator wrote it! Can't anyone write a 'Constructive criticism - This is how you do it' and shove it in their faces? :D

Not a writer but let me tell you as a reader, I see it all as escapism. If the ORIGINAL STORY can take me away, think about how far a fanfic can go. So, if people are harping in the characters in fanfic, they have completely missed the point. I can deal with OCC, really I can. It's grammar and spelling that throw me for a loop. I wrote about that the other day actually. I tried so hard to read this one story, but I could not get over the grammar. How the hell am I supposed to escape if I keep working this hard?

Despite my lack of comments, I love your stuff. I keep reading it. My daughter is up to episode 260-ish and says things like "Did you know that Zoro has a bad sense of direction?" and I had to laugh because you had just written that. So see, they are completely in character...

That's a tough one. No two people are going to agree completely on characterizations, but most people seem content with how much overlaps, and are able to see beyond our own ideas and just skip whatever doesn't float our boat. I read and enjoy a lot of things that aren't quite how I'd approach it, but that aren't wildly off the mark - just different

It really was only a couple PMs. The majority of what pissed me off was a bunch of questions and comments about the latest chapter of Memories. I'm getting lots of comments from people saying stupid shit like "OMG I can't get the idea of Chopper as a reindeer out of my head! Lol!" and "I don't understand. I thought Chopper was in love with Usopp. Now he's suddenly in love with Zoro?? Where is this going? I thought this was a Zoro/Sanji fic!" One girl actually wrote "What's going on? Chopper loves Zoro!!!!? NO NO DON'T LEAVE SANJI! If you do that I'll stop reading this fic!!!!!!!!!!!!!" .... Please. How stupid are you? Seriously
