Meta for the 'Guardian Angels' episode of House
I actually kind of liked the episode overall - which is more to say that it annoyed me less than previous episodes, not that it was necessarily high art or anything, but anyhow…
I ADORED ‘Bosley’/Old!Guy. For a few moments, he actually supplanted Wilson in my love, and I totally remarked to Starhubby that he needed his own spin-off….so of course they can him. *rolls eyes* I bet I even know why - he’s as clever and witty as House, but nicer. And since no characters may be allowed to compete with House, they had to get rid of him. Me NOT likey. House himself said before he might keep Old!Guy on as an assistant or something, right? How is that less 'legit' than keeping 13 because she killed someone? But he still keeps 13 and cans Old!Guy??? Huh? Not to mention House himself also noted that Old!Guy actually pushed plastic!surgeon to come up with better diagnostic possibilities….so Old!Guy is GOOD for the team. Gah, this all makes NO sense. Do the canon-writers spin one wheel to see who’s staying, and another wheel to see what the ‘excuse for firing or keeping’ is? Because that’s the only way this would make sense….
Then there's Foreman. I don’t like him, and I actually wish he’d stayed away. I can’t understand why TPTB are so utterly fascinated with him….other than the fact he’s mini-House. And maybe that’s the whole reason he IS being treated as a special character - if House is God (and clearly TPTB think so), then as mini-House, Foreman is the Christ Child and thus, like House, is worthy of more screen time and attention than Chase and Cameron and/or Ducklings 2.0. Once again, my reaction is a resounding MEH.
While I like Strong!Cam and how she seems to be becoming Wilson Version 2.0, didn’t think much of the bet with House. It’s the Manipulative!Cam of S3 all over again, and this time with even less reason. Why put Mormon!Dude on the chopping block, just to try to get one over on House? And it’s not to pique House’s romantic interest, thanks to DS….mind you, I did cheer when Mormon!Dude punched House out….that tells you just how much I love House NOT these days.
I liked the case, though as usual, there were some holes they didn’t bother to fill in. Starhubby called the Mother = Hallucination two seconds in, and I called the Parkinson’s Dx, so that aspect was fun. I also totally knew Cutthroat!Bitch planted the collar….but that leads me to the one big plot-hole in the whole case - how did the PotW KNOW about Stark and his dog? Did CTB spill it to her?
13 is still annoying me. She seems to have only about two facial expressions, and the contrived ‘mysteriousness’ just bores me, because I don’t care enough to want to figure her out.
The ‘Angels’ part of the ep. was cute, though. As was the ‘House light/House classic’ line Cuddy had.
