I was reading a Snape/Potter story and was attacked by this notion when the author had Snape's dark eyes looking at Potter over steepled fingers:  Snape is Spock and Potter is Kirk reincarnated.  It may work better in the Mirror ST Universe, and probably a universe where Potter failed to kill You-Know-Who.
