I sort of get why lamb is a popular Easter dish -- spring lambs, etc. But what's the deal with ham? I grew up in an Easter ham household, and I don't see the connection. Is this Christians' way of saying to the Jews, "Nyah nyah, Jesus saved us, so now we can eat all the pork we want

sylvia_101 pointed me in your direction, after I asked a similar question about ham yesterday. It's always surprised me that we don't eat chicken at Easter, what with the eggs and everything. And then some families I know eat lamb at Easter...which, given the religious symbolism has always struck me as a bit morbid. But at least there's a discernible connection with lamb. Ham, on the other hand, just seems random.
(Admittedly, I probably wouldn't care so much if I actually liked ham.)

I just Googled to see if anyone had other thoughts on the ham issue. Apparently it's a pretty popular question! Here's someone with a few ideas, though nothing definitive. Hmmm...
